Prime Minister Najla Bouden, on Tuesday, made an inspection visit to the Chedli Kellibi Culture City and the Convention Centre in Tunis to inquire about the latest preparations for Tunisia's hosting of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development "TICAD 8" on August 27 and 28.
Bouden was quoted by a Prime Ministry statement as saying "the success of the conference is a distinction for Tunisia in bringing views closer and coordinating frameworks of tripartite cooperation between African countries, Tunisia and Japan, for an effective multilateral development, investment and economic partnership in all fields."
The Prime Minister, who was accompanied by Minister of Cultural Affairs, Hayat Ketat and head of the executive organising committee of the conference Moncef Sassi, was briefed on the various spaces in the city, especially the one designated for panel discussions and press interviews.
Bouden then headed to the Convention Centre in the capital to see the progress of preparations for hosting TICAD 8 in this space. She stressed the concern to make this conference a success and «provide all appropriate conditions for it, to serve Tunisia's image and its distinguished relations in Africa and with the Japanese side.»
The Japanese government launched the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) in 1993 with the aim of accelerating political dialogue between African actors and partners and meeting the challenges facing the continent.
TICAD is a multilateral conference that brings together international organisations, development partner countries, private institutions and civil society organisations interested in development on the African continent.
During the TICAD 7 summit, the Japanese government allocated $20 billion to support value-added companies and projects.
