Thanks to its strategic geographical position and its openness to the rest of the world, Tunisia is a privileged destination for investment in the digital sector, it is a regional hub of information and communication technologies both for qualified human resources and for regional opportunities with Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Tunisia’s main assets are:

Advanced infrastructure that has enabled Tunisia to be selected by many foreign companies for the development of their higher value-added ICT activities. The telecommunication network covers the entire territory with telephone traffic, Internet and multimedia.

Technology parks promoting synergy between education, research and industry; and providing ICT companies with accommodation complying with international standards, promoting the development of a business oriented climate, stimulating investments and providing job opportunities. This increases the contribution of the communications technology sector to GDP and makes Tunisia a regional and international technology hub.

Apart from technology parks and cyberparks, Tunisia also has a large modern building stock composed of smart buildings of international class, at very competitive prices and able to accommodate ICT-related activities or ICT- enabled services (call centres, BPO, etc.).

Skilled, highly qualified human resources: nearly 60,000 graduates per year, of which 15% come from ICT fields

Tunisia’s Digital Strategy 2021-2025, aims at putting digitalization at the heart of the economic and social development of the country, through the following axis:
  • Review of the legal framework and digital governance,
  • Social inclusion (digital and financial) in order to reduce the social divide and guarantee citizen equity, preserve access to digital tools (smart terminals, computers, etc.), providing high-speed broadband to all regions and improving penetration and improving and diversifying electronic payment services,
  • Development of network infrastructure and hosting capacity to develop the country’s ultra-fast broadband infrastructure and improve connectivity of public structures,
  • Digital transformation of the public administration in order to ensure a modernization and simplification of the services of the administration by opting for a paperless administration with less delays, encouraging electronic citizen participation and putting digital technology at the service of sectoral transformation,
  • Cyber Security and combatting Cyber Crime to Protect National Cyber Space, Ensure Better Cyber Governance and Strengthen Digital Sovereignty,
  • Leveraging data, technology intelligence and strategic innovation by developing decision support solutions, strengthening anticipation and technology advance mechanisms and accelerating integration of emerging and disruptive technologies,
  • Capacity building and development of digital literacy to ensure the preparation and reskilling to digital professions, as well as the resolution of the problem of qualitative and quantitative mismatch between supply and demand
  • Develop the digital entrepreneurial ecosystem to make Tunisia an attractive destination for innovation and entrepreneurship and improve Tunisia’s rankings in the various digital sectors.
